On July 10, 2003 we hosted our very first event at the Town Pump Tavern. Since then, we’ve hosted 59 events at a variety of bars… fancy martini bars, dingy dive bars, brunch spots, even a bowling alley. We pretty much stayed within the city of Detroit, but every now and then for a special occasion we’d venture to the burbs. We even traveled 120 miles for an event at Cedar Point!

But after seven fun and exciting years, the Detroit Guerrilla Queer Bar is closing its digital doors.

So join us this Friday where it all started – the Town Pump Tavern – for one last drink with friends. The event will start at 9pm and go until the wee hours of the morning so come thirsty! And if you’re hungry, they even have some great bar food!

Parking is available in a lot by the bar and on the street. See you and all your friends there!

Ahh, Third Street Saloon was one of our favorite bars in Detroit. They had a great atmosphere, the staff and fellow bar-goers were extremely homo-friendly and, most importantly, had some excellent pizza. So needless to say, we were extremely sad when they closed several years ago.

A few months ago, however, the establishment was gutted, remodeled and reopened under the creative name of 3rd Street Bar. So we’ve decided to check it out and see how it compares to the bar of yesteryear.

Join the Detroit Guerrillas Saturday night for our event for the month of June at 3rd Street Bar in Midtown. The party starts at 9pm and goes late! Got plans later in the evening? Stop by beforehand for a little warm-up drink!

This is not your regular monthly Guerrilla Queer Bar… it’s brunch! Why? Cuz it’s a holiday weekend and we love mimosas, especially bottomless ones. Plus we’ve been doing this particular event for four years now. It’s become tradition!

Need something for that hangover from Saturday night? Haven’t been to bed yet? Eddie’s got just the prescription for you. Drag your cute selves right on down to Woodbridge Pub with all your fabulous friends for bottomless mimosas and some yummy eats. As always, it’s gonna be fun and it’s gonna be messy. Mimosa messy.

Friday, April 30th is the last day you can legally smoke at bars and restaurants throughout Michigan. So to celebrate (or lament), we’re co-hosting a bar crawl in conjunction with the Ruth Ellis Center.

The crawl starts at Loving Touch in Ferndale. Drag queen guided processions will depart every hour on the hour and take you to some of the hottest spots in Ferndale, including The WAB, Emory, Dino’s Lounge, Como’s, Gracies Underground and 9.

There will be select drink discounts and promotions for all bar crawl patrons!

Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door. Tickets may be purchased in advance by contacting the center at 313-252-1950. All proceeds benefit the Ruth Ellis Center. The center is one of only four youth social service agencies in the nation dedicated to helping LGBT teens and young adults who are experiencing homelessness.

Join us at 9pm on Friday December 18th as we decend upon Proof for our event this month.

Sitting on Grand Circus Park, directly across Woodward from Comerica Park, Proof offers a laidback atmosphere, crisp interior design with an urban feel and a tasty menu of delicious cocktails for the lush at heart. Ear candy is also abounding with techno and trance tracks being piped through the speakers.

We’ve hit up Proof once before (and we typically do not hit up the same bar twice). However, Friday night is Proof’s last night of operation. Yes, you heard us right. This fantastic little martini bar that we’ve grown so fond of over the years is closing their doors permanently.

How disappointing. So we thought we’d hit up Proof one last time to give them one hell of a send off.

Join us and the rest of Detroit society Friday night, October 23th, at 9:00pm as we celebrate Halloween for a good cause!

This party is a fundraiser for the Ruth Ellis Center. The center is one of only four youth social service agencies in the nation dedicated to helping LGBT teens and young adults who are experiencing homelessness. No other shelter in the midwest is specifically designed to help the community’s at-risk, run-away and discarded youth.

All proceeds will benefit the center.

The party is located at the Spirit of Detroit Church, an imposing 19th century church built of massive limestone and gothic carvings, which may inspire you to confess your sins. If you have no sins to confess, the cash bar, music and costumed guests in disguise may provide ample material for your confession.

Costumes are required or you will be massacred.

This establishment features 100,000 square feet of gambling space, a spa, three signature restaurants, five bars and much, much more. Instead of hitting up all five of the bars, we’ll be spending the evening at Int Ice.

Even within the classy confines of the MGM Grand, the luxurious Int Ice Bar stands out. From the leather chairs to the water features, every single detail has been carefully thought through, leading to an experience that you’ll want to repeat. Cocktails are the bar’s specialty, particularly their signature drink, the Inticer. The unobtrusive piano music creates the perfect ambiance to sit back with friends, chat and soak everything in.

We’ll be gathering there at 9:30pm. Int Ice is located inside MGM near the hotel and Wolfgang Puck. Free parking is available in their deck. Complimentary valet is also available.

To our friends under 21, while you won’t be able to enter the gaming floor, the entrance to Int Ice is actually outside of the gaming area. So if you enter through the hotel entrance, you’ll be able to join us.

Wednesday night at 9:00pm at Soho for karaoke!

Yes, everyone’s favorite… karaoke!

We’ll be heading to Soho this year. What?! A bar in the suburbs? And it’s a gay bar? On a non-weekend night? Yup. We tried to find a bar downtown that had karaoke that we hadn’t been to before, but came up with nothing. So we’re going to visit our good friends at Soho instead.

Soho has a fairly decent selection of songs spanning every decade and genre, so you’ll be sure to find something that suits you.

And, of course, you don’t have to sing at all!

So muster up some liquid courage and bring yourself and some of your friends Wednesday night. You’ll have a great time. We promise. And if you don’t, we’ll sing you a special song, just for you. But we’re sure you’ll have a great time, nonetheless.

Soho is located on West Nine Mile Road just west of Woodward Avenue. Parking is located on the street and in lots behind the bar.
